Interesting article here about the denied request to the California Supreme Court to stop gay marriages.

It would, IMHO, be wonderful if the California Supreme Court lived up to its historic greatness, and decided this issue based on the relentless logic of antidiscrimination laws. Remember, they were two decades ahead of the US Supremes in deciding that the equal protection clause meant people of different races could marry:

Since the essence of the right to marry is freedom to join in marriage with the person of one's choice, a segregation statute for marriage necessarily impairs the right to marry.
